Canon EOS R5 C Full-Frame Hybrid Camera with 45-Megapixel CMOS Sensor, Digic X

The Canon EOS R5 C hybrid camera has been launched in the United States. The full-frame camera lends some elements to the Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera and the Cinema EOS product line to offer “the best of both worlds”. The body of the Canon EOS R5 C is similar to that of the Canon EOS R5, except for the others with a slight change like the red shutter button. According to the company, the new camera can capture 8K (8192×4,320 pixels) / 60 fps RAW cinematic video shoots and is aimed at filmmakers, multimedia journalists as well as advanced amateurs.

Canon EOS R5 C Price, Availability

The new Canon EOS R5 C camera is priced at 4,499 (approximately Rs. 3,35,200) and will be available from March.

Canon EOS R5 C Specification, Features

The Canon EOS R5 C packs a 45-megapixel full-frame CMOS imaging sensor, paired with a Digic X image processor that allows the camera to capture great images of RAW cinematic videos up to 8K / 60fps. Canon says the camera can capture still images at speeds up to 20fps, and its dual-pixel CMOS AF II capability can “track split split second movements” of moving vehicles. The camera features 1,053 automatic AF zones for high quality and sharp photography. The camera has 13 marked, customizable buttons that allow users to customize the camera operation.

For video shooting, the Canon EOS R5 C movie acts as the EOS camera. It has a body-built cooling fan to dissipate heat, which allows for continuous video shooting at 8K / 60fps. Interestingly, this is the first movie EOS system camera that offers internal 8K / 60fps RAW recording. Canon says the new offer supports two 8K format recordings: Cinema RAW Lite which is great for post-production grading and archiving, and MP4 which is quickly optimized for online use.

In addition to these two, the camera supports MXF-based XF-AVC format for broadcast standards. The Canon EOS R5 C camera supports HDR recording in hybrid log gamma (HLG) and perceptual quantization (PQ) formats. It can also record high frame rate (HFR) movies up to 4K / 120fps at 4: 2: 2 10-bit without crop sensors.

Lastly, the EOS R5 C camera enhances image stabilization when combining Canon’s RF lenses with optical IS with the electronic IS of the EOS R5 C camera when shooting XF-AVC or MP4 format. Camera connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for faster image transfer.
