GoPro Hero 9 Black has been launched. It is GoPro’s flagship action camera for 2020 and has a higher resolution sensor, larger battery, removable lens cover and front color LCD display. The new camera tops the GoPro lineup, while the price of the existing Hero 8 Black will eventually go down, followed by the Hero 7 Black which will now serve as the entry model.
GoPro is only updating its flagship Hero line this year (for now though) and will continue to offer GoPro Max company 360-degree cameras from last year. The Hero 9 Black will be compatible with GoPro Mods, including a new Max Lens mode.
GoPro Hero 9 Black Price, Availability
GoPro Hero 9 Black is priced at Rs. 49,500 and will be available in late October. GoPro will also launch a new media mode for the Hero 9 Black in the coming months that will offer an advanced microphone with a foam cover and weather-resistant design to suppress wind noise.
GoPro Hero 9 Black Specification
The GoPro Hero 9 Black has a new 23.6-megapixel image sensor and is powered by the previous model’s GP1 processor. The camera can now record video up to 5K 30fps and capture 20-megapixel stills. There is a new front-facing color LCD display that should be useful for framing your shots when your camera is pointing at you. The Hero 9 Black has a larger battery than the Hero 8 Black, which GoPro says should improve battery life by up to 30 percent. Because of these additions, the camera is slightly larger and heavier than previous models.
The GoPro Hero 9 Black also has new software features. It includes HyperSmooth 3.0 which promises enhanced stability and the ability to use boost mode in all resolutions, including 5K. The new TimeWarp 3.0 mode now lets you reduce your hyperlapse videos to audio or half-speed real-time speeds by simply tapping the display. If you select the ‘Linear + Horizon Leveling’ option, it is able to level the horizon within the camera.
The GoPro Hero 9 Black brings back the option to remove the lens cover and now, you can switch it to the new Max Lens mode. This optional lens offers a much wider field of view and is said to take advantage of the Max HyperSmooth stabilization and horizon lock features introduced with the GoPro Max.
GoPro Hero 9 Black is rugged and waterproof up to 10 meters. It supports a single microSD card and has a USB Type-C port for charging. The camera has foldable mounting fingers that we first saw in the Hero8 Black.
