How to copy your YouTube video

Bonus Tip: If you want to add your own subtitles to your YouTube video and don’t have a script in hand, you’ll need to convert the video to text. The fastest way to do this is to use a transcription app or a website

Now, there are many apps that you can use to copy your videos, but we prefer an online transcripting tool called Otter because we think it is quite easy to use and it is very accurate in translation.

  1. Open Otter and create your account if you are using it for the first time. Now, click Record Options at the top right, and without closing this window, go back to YouTube Studio and play the video you want to add subtitles to. You will now see that it is copying your video in real-time.
  2. Once the entire video has been converted to text, stop recording and let it process. You will now find your text file below My conversation.
  3. Just click on the text file and it will open in front of you. You can export or copy text. To export, click and select the three points above Export.
