Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 with 4K video recording, wireless live streaming support

The Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 was launched in India on Wednesday. The new Mirrorless camera, designed as an upgrade to the existing Lumix GH5, aims to find a solution for videographers to record 4K video. It comes with the ability to record C4K or 4K 4: 2: 0 video 60 frames per second (fps) at a frame rate of 10 bits, as well as allow simultaneous output of C4K or 4K 4: 2: 0 10-bit video at 60fps. The Lumix GH5M2 has a 20.3-megapixel sensor and a body image stabilizer. The camera also has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options.

The Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 is priced at Rs. 1,69,990 for body only, while the GH5M2 L-Kit which is bundled with 12-60mm lens comes in Rs. 2,14,990. The camera is available for purchase through Panasonic India brand stores across the country.

In July, the Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 debuted in the United States with a price tag of $ 1,699.99 (approximately Rs. 1,27,300) for the body only, where its H-ES12060 lens kit was launched at 2,299.99 (approximately Rs. 1,202,072).

The Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 comes with a 20.3-megapixel digital live MOS sensor with an anti-reflective (AR) coating on top to reduce ghost and burning effects. The camera also has an image processor with Venus engine that is claimed to enable 4K60p 4: 2: 0 10-bit internal recording as well as 4: 2: 2 HDMI output. The Lumix GH5M2 also carries a deep learning technology that is claimed to help identify objects such as humans, fast moving animals and birds.

Compared to the existing Lumix GH5, the Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 is claimed to have twice as fast detection cycle speed for eye and face detection. The camera is also thought to be able to recognize eyes, face and body separately – in real time.

The Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 has a .6.-stop slow shutter speed with body IS that helps capture still shots even in handheld shooting.

The Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 supports wireless live streaming and allows wired live streaming via HDMI. It comes with the Lumix Sync app available for smartphones. The camera delivers the highest full-HD video livestream at 60fps frame rate over the H.264 codec in the RTMP / RTMPS protocol.

The company also offers a dedicated software program called Lumix Webcam Software that users can download for wired live streaming via the Lumix GH5M2. It will also support wired IP streaming via the RTP / RTSP protocol with future firmware updates scheduled for the end of 2021.

For connectivity, the Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 has Bluetooth v4.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The camera also has a 3.0-inch free-angle LCD monitor with 3: 2 aspect ratio with 1,840k-dot resolution. LCD monitors also support touch control.

Since the Lumix GH5M2 is designed to be upgraded to the Lumix GH5, it is compatible with most accessories made for previous models. This means you can use the battery grip for the Lumix GH5 with the XLR microphone adapter, shutter remote control and new camera.

The Lumix GH5M2 is also made with a dustproof, fridge-proof, and splash-proof build whose core structure is made of a magnesium alloy, with a complete die-cast front and rear frame. The camera’s shutter unit is claimed to be durable up to 200,000 cycles.

The Panasonic Lumix GH5M2 has a 2,200mAh battery that can be recharged via AC or USB. It works with USB Power Delivery (PD) chargers. Further, the camera has a dual SD memory card slot with support up to UHS-II. The Lumix GH5M2 is compatible with a list of lenses including H-E08018, H-X1025, H-ES12060, H-ES50200, H-RS100400, H-XA025, H-ES200, H-HSA12035, H-60120S, H-HSA35100 -FSA45200, and H-FSA100300.
