Dasvi is the next movie from Netflix and JioCinema – it will be released on April 7 and will star Abhishek Bachchan, Yami Gautam, and Nimrat Kaur in the lead roles. On Wednesday, Netflix released a trailer for Dasvir, a comedy-drama that follows Chief Minister Ganga Ram Chowdhury (Bachchan) who has been arrested in a teacher recruitment scandal. After police station chief Jyoti Deshwal (Gautam) repeatedly embarrassed Ganga Ram, who had only studied up to 8th class in the school, he promised to pass the 10th class examination – hence the title of the movie, Hindi for 10th-10th while studying from jail. Meanwhile out of the world, Gangaram’s wife Bimala Devi (Nimrat Kaur) was promoted to the post of Chief Minister in his absence and made a choice towards it.
Dashvir’s trailer is full of songs – Ashish Pandit (83) provided the lyrics, while the music and background score came from Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saria, collectively known as Sachin-Jigar. In addition to Bachchan, Gautam and Kaur, Manu Rishi Chadda is also part of the Dashavi cast.
Tushar Jalota made its debut in Dashvi under his management. Before that, Jalota Padmavat, Barfi! And has worked as an assistant or associate director in Ram Leela. In Dasvi, Jalota is working on a screenplay by Ritesh Shah (Pink, Airlift), Suresh Nair (Airlift) and producer Sandeep Lejal. The story comes from Ram Vajpayee.
Kabir Tejpal (Chhutjapah) Cinematographer, A. Shreekar Prasad (Talwar) Editor, Mayur Barathe (Criminal Judgment) Production Design Behind the Scenes, Shital Iqbal Sharma (Mumbai Diary 26/11) has created Dasvi’s costumes and Nitin Shilpa Director Basantarao Wabal.
Along with Dinesh Vijan and Shobhana Yadav, Dasvi’s producers include Lazel. Dasvi is a production of Maddock Films and Geo Studios in collaboration with Beck My Cake Films. G Music is the tenth music rights holder.
