TL; DR
- WhatsApp has given details of its new community features coming to the app.
- The company has announced a number of other features, including the ability to share large files, emoji responses and more.
WhatsApp has officially acknowledged a number of upcoming features. The company wrote a blog post detailing all the new options coming to the chat app, including community features, probably one of the biggest additions to the platform in years.
According to WhatsApp, communities will include a collection of individual groups. They will allow schools, local clubs and nonprofits to come under one umbrella and do things more efficiently.

“People can get updates sent to the entire community and easily organize small discussion groups about what’s important to them,” the company wrote in a blog post.
Community administrators will have powerful tools to control which groups can be included. They will be able to broadcast the announcement message to everyone in the community.
In addition, WhatsApp assures that chats within the community will be encrypted end-to-end.
There is no set date for when communities will come to the platform, but it shouldn’t be too long now.
In the meantime, the more instant updates to WhatsApp include some of the things we’ve been hearing over the last few days.

You will soon be able to respond to messages using emoji. Group Administrators will be able to delete incorrect messages from everyone’s chat. File sharing limit will be increased up to 2GB. And finally, one-tap voice calls will now allow up to 32 people to talk to each other.
Again, there is no word on when all these new features will hit WhatsApp. We will update this article if we have more details.
