The filming of Witcher Season 3 has begun. On Monday evening, the official Twitter account of the Netflix Fantasy series revealed that production began with a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of The Witcher Season 3, starring behind Henry Cavill, Freya Allen and Ania Cholotra. Located in a snowy desert. The Cavill Riviera title starring Gerald, Alan plays the character of the Sintra Crown Princess Siri who revealed Elder Blood in The Witcher Season 2, and Chalotra is a quarter-elf magician and Gerald’s former love interest in Weinberger. Although there is no word on the expected release date though.
Besides, Netflix Unveiling The official summary of The Witcher Season 3 gives us the first indication of what to expect from the next round of adventures by Geralt, Siri and Jennifer:
The king of the continent, the magician and the beasts compete to capture him, Gerald Sintra hides in Siri, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. In charge of Siri’s sorcery training, Yenefer takes them to the protected castle of Aretuza, where he hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped potential; Instead, they discover that they have landed on the battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal. They must fight, keep everything in line – or risk losing each other forever.
Finally, Netflix has released a list of directors for The Witcher Season 3. It features Stephen Surjik (RichardThe Ambrella Academy), Gandja Monteiro (Brand New Cherry Flavor, The Chi), Loni Peristere (American Horror Story, A Series of Unfortunate Events), and Bola Ogun (Raising Dion), Lucifer) Everyone except Surajik – who directed the first two episodes of The Weecher Season 2 – is new to the world of The Weecher. Past trends and the fact that there are four directors, I imagine each of them will lead two episodes in The Witcher Season 3.
In my review of the second season of The Witcher, I mentioned that the Netflix series has improved in its weak first season but it still had some way to go before the next Game of Thrones could be called.
Netflix has not set a release date (or window) for The Witcher Season 3. It only started filming in April – after renovations last September – I wouldn’t expect it before 2023. Hopefully, it won’t end. Fans had to endure a gap of two years between the first and second seasons.
